The Road Home

198 days or 6 months 17 days. That is the day we signed the contract with our builder until the day we closed on our house. But this was a road that took much longer than 198 days.

Not too long after I married my beautiful Valerie and moved to Tampa, God provided me with a job. I worked diligently to pay off bills which helped me re-establish credit after my job loss. We had inquired about building a new house with a builder and found out that due to a deed in lieu on my house in Ohio that it could take up to two years to be able to be approved for a mortgage. Our hearts sank.

We followed the advice of a lender to take additional steps to repair my credit. And slowly but surely it worked. To make a long story short God’s timing could not have been more perfect. The phase we actually ended up building in with a gorgeous view of a lake in the back of our property wasn’t ready then. But last summer 2013 it was ready. On August 31, 2013 we were ready and signed the contract to build.

Unfortunately mom never got to live in the back bedroom as we had planned on. It was about 3 hours after we signed the contract that she got to go to place much better than a new house – she was in the presence of Jesus and was re-united with my dear father.

With deep gratitude to our Lord Jesus, Valerie and I “Praise God From Whom All Blessings Flow’.

Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost !

Amen !

Prayer: “Lord I pray that you will provide for us while we are in this home.  We trust you for our provision.  We ask that you show us how we can share your provision with others.”
* Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? Matthew 6:26

Prayer: “Lord help our family grow closer to you while we live in this home.  Help us to advance your Kingdom as we live in this home.”
* And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates. Deuteronomy 6:6-9

Prayer: Lord we ask for your Blessing on our home.  We invite your leadership of our home and we submit ourselves to you.
* And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. 2 Corinthians 9:8
* Therefore let us be grateful for receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, and thus let us offer to God acceptable worship, with reverence and awe, for our God is a consuming fire. Hebrews 12:28-29
* Now therefore may it please you to bless the house of your servant, so that it may continue forever before you. For you, O Lord God, have spoken, and with your blessing shall the house of your servant be blessed forever. 2 Samuel 7:29"
